Prints And Textures
Prints and patterns are personal to every person, and adding a pop of different texture or prints elevates what you are wearing and adds a point of interest.
The easiest way to Start incorporating textures or prints into your current wardrobe is to layer it. If you never wear floral prints, don’t start out wearing a floral dress, ease your way into using prints and textures by putting it underneath something.

Prints
Prints add everything to your look. If you’re wearing jeans and a blazer, add a kiss of print by wearing a printed shirt, or blazer. If you’re feeling bold, why not add a printed bag or printed bottoms?
Mixing Prints
Too many people think you can’t mix prints. You can, and it looks rad! When you are mixing prints, remember to mix prints that complement each other. Don’t match a paisley (a bold print) with a geo. You could, and I’m sure you would rock it, but there are better combinations out there, like:
Polka Dots And Stripes
This combo is a classic, and you need to try mixing these prints. An infamous polka dot shirt would look bomb with a fav : the polka dot print.
Geometric and Stripes
Mixing geometric and stripes, an easy way to mix prints. This works because a simple striped shirt pairs well with a geo, which is bolder and makes a statement.
Mixing prints is a way to show that you know what you’re doing, it’s chic and it’s stylish.
Stripes And Floral
It’s hard to style, but totally worth it. A striped shirt (preferably B&W) pairs with a bright colored floral bottom. Or try a striped dress with accents of floral.
Floral and Snakeskin
Mixing a girly print (floral) with a more edgy print (snakeskin) gives off a perfect edgy floral vibe that is to die for. Try a floral dress & snakeskin coat.
Prints every Teen Needs
When you’re not mixing prints, it’s always good to add a pop of print into every outfit. So, here are some prints you need, and how to style them into every outfit .
1. Floral
In the Summer & Spring any floral print is especially helpful and stylish.
Buy it is a bag, dress or shoes for an added touch to any solid outfit.
2. Geometric
You always have to have a bold print in your closet, so try a geometric printed piece.
What is geometric print?
The geometric design depicting abstract, repeating shapes such as lines, circles, triangles, rectangles, and polygons.
3. Polka Dots
Polka dot prints are always helpful, because you can style them with everything and they come in every color. Plus, it can be a very toned down and casual print.
Buy a polka dot bag, dress or shirt for easy styling.
How to mix the same type of prints in one look
If you don’t like the idea of mixing different prints in one outfit, try some of these ideas on how to mix a few different types of the same print.
Floral On Floral
This is the hardest print to wear more then one piece in one outfit because it’s nearly impossible to find, say, a skirt and shirt in the same floral print. So, the easiest way to match more than one piece of this print is to find matching or similar colored pieces.
A pink floral skirt with purple roses would look fantastic with a purple rose print bag, white, or even pink.
Don’t layer florals. You can wear a blue floral skirt with a yellow floral top, and you would look just fine, but there are better ways. Like wearing a blue floral skirt, and yellow floral handbag, or scarf, or heels.
Geometric On Geometric
THE edgy and bold pattern on pattern. If you’re looking for a way to style print on print and look edgy and bold, go to the geometric print. You can style this print any which way, but if you’re looking to have a couple of pieces of this print in one look, I suggest getting a geometric printed button up and putting a white tee underneath, and adding a geo bag/purse or shoes.
Geo is a very bold print, I wouldn’t recommend wearing more than two pieces in one outfit with this print.
Polka Dots On Polka Dots
This is one of the easiest prints to layer, because it’s not difficult to find two different pieces in the same pattern of the print polka dot.
Try layering a polka dot shirt that’s very toned down with a button up more bold shirt, or a polka dot dress with matching bag, shoes, or hat.
Textures
A simple and easy way to add something new to your wardrobe is playing with textures. Even though it doesn’t seem like a big change it can be so gorgeous. Be sure that when you are mixing textures you are not putting on a costume, becoming something you’re not, or spending money on a texture that is too bold for you.
Leather And Suede
Leather and suede is a combo that has been around for a lot longer then you, and it can be anything you want it to be. It could be bold, sassy, chic, minimalist, edgy, and more. Suede jeans paired with a leather jacket or vice versa is a simple way to style this texture combo.
Cable Knit And Wool
It’s not a good combo for Summer or Spring, but in Fall and Winter this combo is fantastic. A wool coat paired with a cable knit sweater is cozy, comfy and chic for chillier days.
Mesh And Lace
This texture combo is perfect. A colored mesh top styled with a lace camisole underneath is stunning and stylish for any teen in need.
